| Presentation: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) in Elderly Chinese Faculty: Stanley K. Dea, M.D. Objectives: - Summarize risk factors for GERD in Chinese American patients (obesity).
- Describe 3 potential complications of GERD (eg eating and drinking problems, non- cardiac chest pain, sleep impairment).
- Describe current diagnostic approaches to GERD, including the use of Chinese language questionnaires.
- Summarize treatment approaches to GERD.

2:00PM | Presentation: Update on the Treatment of Gout Faculty: Peng T. Fan, M.D. Clinical Professor of Medicine, UCLA School of Medicine Objectives:
- Recognize the impact of gout and its complications.
- Define the treatment challenges in managing patients with gout, including the different challenges physicians face when treating young versus elderly patients.
- Evaluate current therapeutic and new options and their benefits and limitations for managing patients with gout in order to narrow the practice gaps.

- Describe cultural barriers to hypertension medication adherence.
- Describe differences in rates of ACE-I cough between Chinese and non-Chinese populations.
- List complications of poorly controlled hypertension.
