Doctor Jonathan Song

Presentation: Ophthalmic Disorders in Chinese Americans
Time: Saturday Afternoon
Purpose: To review ocular disorders that effect Chinese American population
Objectives:
Identify who are at risk for low tension glaucoma
Review macular degeneration in Chinese American population
Identify types of corneal disorders that can be treated with laser surgery

Bio:
Jonathan Song, MD grew up in the San Gabriel Valley attending California Institute of Technology for his undergraduate studies.  He earned a medical degree from University of California San Francisco.  He completed his residency at University of Southern California / Doheny Eye Institute.  He also served as chief resident after his residency.  He completed two fellowships: a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Doheny Eye Institute.  Dr. Song joined the faculty at Keck/USC School of Medicine in 2000 and is the director of the Cornea Institute at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles

His adult practice is focused on corneal/external diseases and refractive surgery.  His pediatric practice at CHLA is focused on pediatric anterior segment disorders including cataracts, corneal disorders, and glaucoma.  His academic interests include the use of adult corneal and refractive techniques in the treatment of anisometropia and corneal scaring in children, the epidemiology of refractive disorders in children, and anterior segment imaging techniques.
